Template Skilled Worker Immigration Reference Letter

This template reference letter is intended for use with Skilled Worker applications for permanent residence in the Canadian immigration system.

Applicants and employers alike are often uncertain about what information to include in a reference letter for use with a Skilled Worker immigration application. As proof of past work experience is often a key component of a Skilled Worker immigration application, applications can be delayed and even fail due to an insufficiently prepared reference letter.  Every reference letter will be different for different applicants and from different employers.  As such, this template is intended to provide a general guide for the details that are needed for a reference letter which can be utilized for specific situations as needed.

Reference letters alone are a baseline for proof of an applicant’s work experience.  As such, it can be helpful to provide as much additional corroborative documentation for an applicant’s work experience in addition to the reference letter. An applicant’s mix of a reference letter and corroborative documentation is often a complex assessment of Canadian immigration law and available documentation.
